ComFest Liveblog Part Three: Los Caminos
The third band of the day was Los Caminos, and holy fucking shit, they are even better than they were last year. Paul Gall, the lead guitarist, continued to melt my face for just about 45 minutes, as the band played some new stuff, some old stuff, some standard stuff, and some covers. The last three tunes, an incredible cover of "Sha La La La La Wait for Today" (or whatever it was called), a new one, the sinister, driving, dangerous, "The Rain, The Guns and the Tears", and a trad song, "Crash on the Barrel Head", were all absolutely stunning. I've got videos that I cannot wait to share.About halfway through the set, the rain finally caught us, causing a steady stream of people to fill up the small confines of the Offramp tent. The band was unfazed, and the new crowd were surely dumbfounded by the absolutely stunning guitar work of the outlaw country happening on stage. I can't wait to see these guys again. Amazing.
I might not have enough juice to update from the fest again, but I'll see what I can do. Worst case, check back this evening for all the late afternoon goings on here at The Offramp Stage, Comfest 2008.
