Gimme Some! (Hip-Hop Recos, that is...)

Okay, so thanks to an anonymous commenter to yesterday's post about Makaveli (and my lack of knowledge of all things hip-hop), I would like to ask you, dear readers, what would you recommend I check out as I enter into the world of Rap? I've got the following list:

Public Enemy - It takes a nation of millions to hold us back (album)
Eric B & Rakim - Follow the leader (album)
Common - Be (album)
Notorious Big - Ready to die (album)
Abdominal - Vinyl Frontier (track)
Blackstar - Blackstar (album)
El-P (Flyentology)
De La Soul - Stakes Is high (album)
Big Shug - Who's Hard (album)
Brother Ali - Uncle Sam Goddamn (track)
Fort Knox 5 - Radio Free DC (track)
JVC Force - Doin' Damage (album)
MC Solaar - Nouveau Western (track)
Foreign Legion - Playtight (track)

What else am I missing? I mentioned I love Deltron and The Roots, two of my favorites are below - how about pointing me into the direction of stuff along those lines.

Thanks!

"3030" Deltron 3030
"Dynamite" The Roots

Awesome, thanks guys. I have Aesop Rock, Cody Chestnut, and NERD, but the rest are new to me. I think after all is said and done, I'll have to have a hip-hop week :-D

I'm not a fan of Jay-Z AT ALL. I do, however, have to admit that I don't think I've ever actually heard Biggie.

i've been kinda rock focused since starting the music blog but..

great way to start might be the unplugged session with the roots. i loved that album but some punk stole it from a party years ago.

otherwise his debut, reasonable doubt. the blueprint. black album. i tend to like the earlier stuff, go figure. it's all good. check youtube for vids from 94-96 and don't forget to pick up some Big L.
