A Waste of a Wedding and Ye Olde Mullet

So this weekend was a full one, with a wedding in Cleveland and then the Renaissance Fair in Harveysburg.

Emily was overjoyed by the ceremony and subsequent reception

I'm sure you're all aware that weddings are supposed to be an exciting, emotional, happy time. This wedding, however, was an exercise in excess, awkward pauses, and an HOUR-AND-A-HALF CEREMONY! So anyway, word 'round the campfire was that this was a thirty thousand dollar wedding, but some claim that might be a lowball estimate. And yet, with all that money, they still couldn't book a halfway decent band. I mean, the "happy" couple are both in their early twenties, and for some reason they decided to get a chintzy vocal jazz band, complete with elevator-music versions of songs like "Tiny Dancer", "Overjoyed", and "Have I Told You Lately That I Love You?" They didn't even know the one great jazz song I wanted to hear, "Song For My Father", by Horace Silver. We had our open bar, filet mignon, cake and ice cream, and then promptly escaped back to Columbus.

They had four freakin' forks and screenprinted napkins!

After the long drive home, we slept in and then headed to the Ren Fair just south of the city. It was hotter than we'd like, but it was still enjoyable, plus we got to see the following epic mullet:
