Just a clarification about the doves tracks
The tracks I posted from the doves website may or may not be new. I have no way of knowing. What I do know is that they're new to me (and I imagine to many many other folks as well). These might be leftovers from the release of "Black and White Town", but they might also be demos of stuff they're working on now. So anyway, check them out, listen and love them - some rare morsels from a band that's been pretty well holed up for a year or so to bring us some great new music.
Oh, and thanks to Stereogum and Chromewaves for the links. Cheers.
Labels: clarification, doves

Hey I hope you didn't take offense at my asking if one of those tracks was an early version of "Almost Forgot Myself". I was just curious. I'm still trying to figure out how you found the tracks in the first place. Thanks for finding them.
I managed to get'em downloaded. Hopefully it'll keep me satisfied until they finish what is becoming their version of Chinese Democracy.
It might very well be. I think I know which one you're talking about and the chances are pretty good. If it's not an early version, maybe it's some noodling or something or other afterwards.
But I absolutely agree, hopefully they'll finish their album soon!
These clips are actually (sadly) somewhat old - they were inserted into odd places in the site during the site's revamp around (before, I believe) the release of "Some Cities." So yes, I'd agree that it's quite likely that some of them are early attempts at the songs that made that album.
I think the only confirmed demo that Doves have released thus far (for LP4) was on Guy Garvey's Finest Hour (a 6 Music radio broadcast). I have an mp3 of the show, which includes an interview with Jimmy Goodwin, if you'd like it. It may also be available somewhere online.
Thanks for the info, Joshua!
